About the Creator

Well, where should I start?  My pen name (for both writing and cartooning) is Maxwell
West and am also known by my nickname "Skyfire".

I reside in New York city and work a full-time job.  My dream for a long time though
is to be an artist, to have my own comic (both completed), and to self-publish my own
comic book.

I'm very passionate about the 1980s, the decade of my childhood, and I collect Care Bears,
Popples, and Transformers.  My favorite care bear is Grumpy Bear and I have a beanie of him
as well as a 13 inch plush and a jumbo plush too.

My favorite type of music is synthpop and new wave, though i also like classic rock too.

My favorite band would be the Beatles, with the Alan Parsons Project in a close second.

My favorite songs are "Tarzan
Boy" by Baltimora and "I Wish It Would Rain Down" by Phil Collins.

My favorite rock album is "Turn of a Friendly Card" by the Alan Parsons Project.

My favorite foods are fried chicken and matzoh ball soup.  I enjoy many different cuisines
such as deli fare (corned beef sandwiches on rye, etc.), Chinese, Japanese, and Tex-Mex.

My favorite movies are Mad Max, the Road Warrior, the Goonies, the Adventures of Buckaroo
Banzai, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Big Trouble in Little China, the Ghostbusters movies,
the Back to the Future trilogy, Smokey and the Bandit, and both the Star Trek and the Star
Wars films.

One of my favorite shows is an Anglo-French stop-motion production called the Magic
Roundabout.  I enjoy comics a lot and read Disney comics when I can.  Comic strips I've
read and love are Peanuts, the Far Side, Popeye, and Pogo.  My favorite webcomics are
Sabrina Online, Misty the mouse and Nip and Tuck.

I have some good friends out there who care about me and that in turn I care about, like
Yiffer and Rapid T. Rabbit.

I am an alumnus of the Guy Gilchrist's Cartoonist's Academy; it is through their correspondence courses
that I learned to draw.

And what materials do I use?  For my pencilling, I use HB leads usually in a mechanical pencil.
For inking, I've made use of pigma micron pens but recently started using Copic Multiliners for pen and brushwork.
I do coloring digitally as well as with colored pencil, watercolor, and gouache.

And that pretty much sums it up.
